BREAKING NEWS: Governor Signs Bill to Reinstate the BRN
Posted about 12 years ago by Sandra Bagwell
Today Governor Brown signed Senate Bill 98 into law, which re-establishes the Board of Registered Nursing (BRN). The BRN is responsible for consumer protection and licensing of the nursing profession. Last October, the Governor vetoed a measure that would have extended the previously constituted board. This was widely considered a formality, since all regulatory boards include a sunset date which is regularly extended by the Legislature and typically signed by the Governor after a review of the board's necessity and efficiency. In the Govenors message, he clearly supported the mission of the Board and specifically asked that the Board be re-established. CANP is pleased to have supported SB 98 and looks forward to working with Governor Brown's appointees on the Board.
